Producer-Consumer Market Intervention

The Deshojo Bazar is a social enterprise that works as chemical and fertilizer-free agricultural production involving the climate-vulnerable communities of flood-prone, salinity-affected, drought-prone areas of Bangladesh. It also promotes commercial products to ensure the sustainability of the enterprises. The enterprise is directly involved with the production of organic vegetables, traditional rice, red wheat, mustard oil, meat, egg, butter, milk, coconut oil, sunflower oil, onion, garlic, potato, organic fish fry, etc. It also innovated value-added products from nature-based solutions, such as Keora Pickle, Goalpata jaggery, and Shital Pati from Murta. The enterprise is being operated as a social business as profit sharing with producers.

The enterprise was established in 2016 by the initiative of a climate researcher who envisions ensuring climate-resilient livelihoods for the climate-vulnerable people in Bangladesh. It primarily focused on alternate income generating through climate-resilient farming but has transformed into safe food and traditional intangible heritage production in 2019. The enterprise transformed into super shop to ensure producer-consumer justice.
